The United States Flag which flies over the museum is the flag that covered the casket of Nelson Williamson Vincent Spaulding, III, MD from the Shellman Bluff Community of McIntosh County, GA. Dr. Spaulding was the son of Vivian G. Sams, the grandson of Joseph McIntosh Sams, and the Great Grandson of Col. John M. McIntosh.
